I’m starting a nonprofit!
The Union Project is an upcoming nonprofit with a free-to-use platform designed to enable workers to organize in a safer, smarter, and more strategic way. The Union Project takes a structured approach to unionizing where workers are guided through a series of phases each with corresponding objectives and target milestones designed to build momentum and maintain morale. During the course of these phases, users work together to create a hierarchy of workplace issues that a union can address, educate themselves and their coworkers on labor rights, and use systems integrated right into The Union Project to raise awareness, recruit members, combat union busting, and grow to the levels of support needed to hold a unionization vote.
Support for workers doesn’t end after a unionization vote. Workers can choose to join a nationwide union partnered with The Union Project, or opt-in to be represented by The Union Project in exchange for smaller union dues than more traditional union would offer. Union dues are built on a needs-based model so unions only pay for the assistance they need in a highly tailored support system. These smaller dues are supported by location-based algorithmically generated bargaining summaries and agreement templating for individual workplaces based on cost of living assessments, market benchmarked wages and benefits, company financial snapshots, inflation adjusted wage tracking, related successful union drives, and the hierarchy of workplace issues created by users.
Additionally, The Union Project support more non-traditional organization efforts for workers through company-wide and industry-wide union drives and a platform built specifically to enable the organization of gig workers.
Empower workers to unionize safely and effectively—no matter where they are—by providing a private, structured, and accessible platform that protects anonymity, counters union-busting, and builds lasting solidarity from the ground up.
